Section 125 Cafeteria Plans

  • Also known as Flexible Savings Account (FSA’s), Section 125 Plans allow employees to pay for Qualified Medical Expenses (QME’s – IRC 213) with pre-tax dollars.
  • Employees may also pay insurance premiums, parking/commuting expenses, out-of-pocket health care expenses and/or dependent care expenses on a pretax basis through Cafeteria Plans.
  • The employer also benefits by having their portions of social security tax and Medicare tax waived on those payroll dollars the employee runs through the Cafeteria plan.
